Teach Your Children

My husband always encouraged our children to play sports. We spent countless hours at the ball field. He was sure that one of them would play professionally but they had other plans. Dee and I enjoyed all the games, the wins and the losses but we didn't think to ask our kids if they enjoyed it. As adults we sometimes fail to ask our kids what's important to them, we misread their talents and we focus to much on where we think they should be in life. I'm not saying we shouldn't guide them in their decision making but we have to pay more attention to what makes them happy and what makes sense. Even when they become adults we should make ourselves available to them, offering advice when it's solicited, being careful not to use our words to discourage them, helping them make the right choices based on their desires and not ours. The most important thing we can do is ensure they are spiritually connected to God. It's easy to take them to church when they're young but make sure they understand the Word. Give them such a strong foundation so that no matter how far they travel outside God's will they'll always find their way back home. Along with this, don't allow outsiders to be role models for your children, role models should be home grown, not someone the media has blown up and can't wait to blow down. I am so proud of my children, my nieces and nephews. Our lives haven't been perfect but by the grace of God we are all together and in touch. TeamListenToYourChildren. Bblessedloveyou.
